DESCRIPTION:\nThe skin acts as a primary sensory organ, detecting external stimuli and stressors such as cold, heat, pain, mechanical pressure, and immune or inflammatory responses. Cutaneous nerve fibers monitor changes in skin temperature, pH, and inflammation, sending signals to the central nervous system (CNS). Skin sensitivity can cause unpleasant sensations such as burning, stinging, tingling, pricking, or itching in response to normal stimuli. These sensations suggest possible dysfunction of intra-epidermal nerve fibers involved in pain, temperature, and itch perception, potentially leading to further skin imbalances and irritations.
