Rescuing Rosacea Sensitivity with Dr. Erin Madigan-Fleck
Rosacea is invariably associated with skin sensitivity and encompasses generalized erythema, episodic flushing, papules, and the hallmark telangiectasia. Clinical manifestations of rosacea are frequently multifaceted and may involve subclinical factors affecting the skin and its function that are not visible to the naked eye. These concealed factors are often internal and include genetics, overall health status, nutrient deficiencies, medications, and other variables. Inflammation remains a fundamental factor in the pathogenesis of skin sensitivity. Sensitive skin is no longer regarded merely as a symptom and is now recognized as a “condition.” Rosacea does not immediately equate to skin sensitivity; however, it remains a co-existing concern in the management of rosacea, often making treatment more challenging. This lecture will outline the key aspects of sensorial influences that may accompany rosacea and the precautions that can be taken to support rosacea clients who experience skin sensitivity.
